Joseph Bartlett was a scythe manufacturer & farmer, May 1746 admitted Freeman of Providence. He inherited his father's house 6 Feb 1737-8. Member of the Smithfield monthly Meeting. Member of town council. He was interested in Blacksmithing , but his main occupation was farmer. 2. Joseph Bartlett was buried at Old Bartlett Burying ground. 3. A pious couple, educated children in religion, Joseph composed several poems, he had an enviable reputation for conduct and purity of mind, an earnest pious, Old Quaker.

Died in this house (youngest child 9 mo & oldest age 10 when he died. Wife was a fine tailor-'best in these parts" supported her family. After husb's death, she moved her family to Diamond Hill. House and farm occupied by Miss Alpha Bartlett-dau of Eber's son David. During Eber's brief illness, he was most of the time-delirious. He is described as medium height, very finely built and very active and gentlemanly. Wife's description-as being very straight and unusually smart and afraid of nothing. Son, Bani, carried frooo mother in her old age. BURIAL: Burying ground-opposite the old Elder Ballow Meeting House (wife) NOTES: Re Child #4: "She was a typical old maid of excessive neatness and had a fondness for Buff Color in dress, always wearing something of that color. She was a favorite of children and was of a kind, benevolent disposition....In person, Saloma was a tall, erect figure, and her manners were in accordance with her amiable temper and good heart." Saloma died at her bro. Bani's house and buried where her mother is.

Re Married to 3rd wife, the wedding reception taking place at the house of Buffum Chase, which stands on the Batty farm & where Amey made her home. She had a kind, amiable dispostion. In stature, he was not quite of medium height and rather spare. He was not much of a talker, but still, quiet & unobtrusive in habit & was respected as an honest, upright man. He did not belong to Quakers, but attended faithfully.
He married Abigail Aldrich 7 Nov 1744 at Smithfield, Providence, Rhode Island . Abigail Aldrich was born at Mendon, Worcester, Massachusetts 1724 .
