(Lincoln Co Health Death card) Funeral services were held yesterday at the Baptist Church in Odessa for Edward Wagner, 84, a pioneer of the Marlin area, who died March 20th following a three-week illness at the local hospital. Interment was in the Odessa Cemetery. Pallbearers, all nephews, were: Judd Perkins and Victor Roth, Spokane; Alvin and James Goetz, Marlin; Herbert Goetz, Tacoma; and Roscoe Wagner. Edward Wagner was born Jan 10, 1882 to Andrew and Katherine Wagner at Tyndall, SD. At the age of 1 ½ years his mother died, and he was raised by foster parents until 12. He then joined his father, who had married Katherine Kallenberger, and lived at Medicine Hat, Alberta. His schooling ended at this time. The Wagners lived on a stock ranch near Shelby, MT, for seven years. In 1901, at the age of 21, Edward moved to Washington and a short time later homesteaded nine miles northeast of Marlin. In Oct 1905 he married Tonia Goetz. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary last October. They continued to farm in the Marlin area until 1949 when they retired and moved to Odessa. Mr. Wagner had been in failing health for the last few years. He is survived by his wife, Tonia, at the home in Odessa. There were three children, two daughters and one son: Alice Kehrer, who preceded her father in death in 1930 at the age of 23; Harvey of Marlin; Wilma Nuckolls of Spokane. There are 7 grandchildren; Elton Kehrer, Marlin; Nancy Bodeau, Wilbur; Sharon Hoff, Portland; Larry Wagner, San Anselmo, CA; Kay Del, Arvita and James Nuckolls, Spokane; 7 great grandchildren... Edward Wagner is also survived by a brother, Al, of Odessa and Charles of Tacoma; and 5 sisters, Rose Perkins, Vancouver, WA; Emma Goetz and Ida Weber, Odessa; Maggie Butte, Spokane; and Claudea Holden, Tacoma. Mr. Wagner had been a member of the Baptist Church since coming to Washington in 1901. He joined the Canniwai Grange in 1937. (Odessa Record: 3-24-1966)

                   Wagner, Tonia, (d. 2-11-1969; b. 8-02-1886; TS; OC) Funeral services were held on Saturday, Feb 15, at the Baptist Church for Mrs. Tonia Goetz Wagner, who died in a Spokane nursing home at the age of 82 years. Mrs. Wagner was born at Parkston, North Dakota, on August 2, 1886. Her parents, John and Justina Goetz, moved the family to a farm near Salem, Oregon, six years later. In 1897 the family moved to Washington and settled northwest of Odessa, where they farmed for many years before retiring. Mrs. Wagner was a member of the Baptist Church for 65 years, joining the North Baptist church in May, 1904. In 1905 on Oct 29th, she married Edward Wagner. The couple farmed in the Marlin area until they retired in 1949. They moved to Spokane until 1964 when they relocated in Odessa. Mr. Wagner died in 1966. Mrs. Wagner then made her home with her daughter, Wilma, in Spokane until she became ill and had to be moved to a nursing home. She stayed at Madison South Convalescent Center until her death on Feb
11, 1969. Mrs. Wagner was preceded in death by one daughter, Alice, whose son, Elton Kehrer, she raised. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Wilma Nuckolls of Spokane, and one son, Harvey, of Marlin. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. One sister, Mrs. Emilia Roth of Spokane, and four brothers, John Goetz of Odessa, Emanuel of Marlin, and Daniel and Henry of Seattle also survive. Officiating at the funeral were Rev Myrl E. Thiesies of the Terrace Heights Baptist church in Spokane and Rev Albert Richardson of Odessa. Music was presented by Mrs. Delbert Cook, organist, and Mrs. Merle Schmautz of Veradale, as soloist. Pallbearers were Roger Schlimmer, Laddie Schlimmer, Eddie Kuch, Henry Kallenberger, Dan Janke, Eugene Schorzman and Bobbie Engle. (scrapbook obit; Odessa Record: 2-19-1969) Tonia Wagner.                    Wagner, Harvey Victor , (d. 12-28-1997; b. 5-08-1910; TS; OC) Harvey Victor Wagner, a native and former resident of the Marlin area, died in Kennewick on Sunday, Dec 28, 1997. He was 87 years old. He was the son of Edward and Tonia (Goetz) Wagner, born May 8, 1910, northeast of Marlin on his fathers homestead. He attended the Kallenberger rural school and farmed with his father until 1933. He married Alma Dean Carlyle, of Davenport, in Yakima on May 3, 1934. They made their home in Marlin, Cashmere and Wenatchee for a few years, then settled in the Marlin area and farmed until they retired in 1975. They lived in Neilton, WA, until moving to Kennewick in 1991. Harvey was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles for more than 50 years and of Cannawai Grange for many years. He was an avid fisherman and game hunter and especially enjoyed reading and baseball in later years. He is survived by his wife, Alma, at their home; two daughters, Nancy Gail Fiess and Sharon Alice Sump, of Richland, and a son, Larry Duane Wagner, of Fountain Valley, CA. He also is survived by two grandsons, L. Keith Bodeau and Edward N. Hoff, and 5 granddaughters, Joanne M. Mizell, Patricia M. Costabaude, Heide L. Moncrief, Elizabeth M. Oestreich and Karin L. Wagner. In addition, he had six great grandsons and 5 great granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters as well as a granddaughter, Sharon Nancy, and an infant grandson. There will be a viewing on Jan 2, 1998 at the Odessa Cemetery Chapel in Odessa, followed by the burial service. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Jan 2 at First Presbyterian Church at 2000 West Kennewick Ave, Kennewick. Serving as pallbearers are Keith Bodeau, Edward Hoff, William Mizell, Crayton Oestreich, Gary Moncrief, Robert Carlyle and Stanley Goetz. Strate Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
