Moved from Plymouth to Marblehead, where he was taxed in Jan 1637, Jan 1638, and was granted land on 14 October 1638. In early 1639 he was among those who accompanied Anthony Thacher in the settlement of Yarmouth, Massachusetts.
Richard Sears was named a Freeman in 3 June 1652, Constable in 6 June 1660, Deputy to the Plymouth General Court, 3 June1662.
Name: Sears or Sares/Sarres (most often Sares in early documents). "The early settlers of Marblehead were many of them from the Channel Islands, Guernsey and Jersey, and in these places the family of Sarres has been established for several centuries, and is still represented in Guernsey under the names of Sarres and Serres."
