BIRTH: MARRIAGE: Hampton Town Book 2:400, FHL 0985083: "John Tucke & Bathjale Hobes wear Joyned in marring the 9th of the 11th mo 1677 [9 Jan 1677/1678]." DEATH: PUBLISHED SOURCES: Joseph Dow, HISTORY OF THE TOWN OF HAMPTON, NEW HAMPSHIRE, FROM ITS SETTLEMENT IN 1638, TO THE AUTUMN OF 1692 (Salem, Mass.: Salem Press Publishing and Printing Co., 1893), 748, 1017-18: "John Tuck, Deacon, son of Edward, married Jan. 9, 1678, Bethia, daughter of Morris Hobbs. In October of the same year, Sameul Sherburne, having bought the Tuck place on Rand's hill, was licensed to keep the public house. Deacon Tuck's homestead was between Christopher G. Toppan's and the lot on which the railroad station stands. He house was near the southeast, corner of the Perry garden. He owned and cultivated a considerable quantity of land. He was, however, a carpenter by trade, and after 1686, a miller (Chap. xxxi, Tuck's Mills). He was highly esteemed by his townsmen; was selectman ten years; town clerk, fifteen years; deacon of the church more than twenty-seven years. He was a siligent reader of the Bible; and read it through in course, on less than twelve times, between Feb. 13, 1677, and May 21, 1715, as appears from his diary. After the first reading is the following entry: `The 13th day of February 1677, I began to Reade ye Bible through and I Read it all through from ye 1st chapter of Gennesis to ye last chapter of Revelations: by ye 18th day of December, John Tucke."
