John BUTCHER

[Katherine Butcher was a native of Felling in Kent Co., England. During her childhood she had lived at Maidstone, Kent with her mother who had remarried as her second Husband PETER SWAN of Maidstone. When KATHERINE'S mother died her Uncle Francis Butcher, a resident of Garnton PArish, of Adsum, Kent took her to live with him. At the time Francis Butcher wrote his will in March of 1661 he said of himself as being "of the Precincts of the Catherdral called Chrsit Church in the City of Cantebury". In his will Francis Butcher bequeathed certain property in Wickhambruex, Kent to his neice, KATHERINE BUTCHER who married GEORGE JOHNSON.
