Richard HARCOURT
Richard Harcourt was among the early Puritan immigrants to New England. He immigrated from England to Salem, MA in JUN 1630 (part of John Winthrop's fleet).He moved to Providence, RI where he was one of twelve original members of theBaptist Church of Providence. In 1648, he moved to Warwick, RI where he was one of the Signers of Fundamental Agreement of the Inhabitants of the colony of Warwick, RI. He was appointed to survey the town, chosen as Constable (highestoffice in town government)and Justice of the Peace, twice served on the Court of Commissions, and owned a tavern. In 1657, he moved to Jamaica, Queens Co, Long Island, NY. In Sep 1661, he bought his first residence in Oyster Bay, Nassau Co, Long Island, NY. He held the offices of Overseer, Constable and Surveyorand was on several zoning commissions for Oyster Bay.
He married Elizabeth Potter Abt 1651 at New York . Elizabeth Potter was born at Hempstead, Nassau, New York Abt 1630 .
