Richard VALENTINE II
Richard Valentine was among the Puritan immigrants who settled the MassachusettBay Colony with John Winthrop in 1634. He later moved to Hartford and New Haven, Ct. In 1644, he finally settled in Hempstead, Nassau Co, Long Island, NY.Hempstead was one of the largest towns on Long Island at the time, extending from Long Island Sound on the north to the Atlantic Ocean on the south, and fromOyster Bay on the east to Jamaica on the west. He was recorded as one of Hempstead's original 66 proprietors. The original homestead was reported to have been 600 acres. The Valentines were loyal to the British Crown and did not acknowledge allegiance to the American Government until October 1776.
He married Deborah Mott 1650 at Hempstead, Nassau, New York . Deborah Mott was born at Saffron Walden, Essex, England 1624 daughter of Adam Mott and Elizabeth Creel .
