Age is shown as "25" ON 1865 CENSUS. Family lore is that Hans never married. He was tall and liked to drink. He was the first person to bring coal lamps to Honefoss. He was a very fine musician. He played the bass fiddle and the tuba. He was head of the band in Honefoss for many years, and on his twenty-fifth anniversary of being band leadeer, he was presented with a fine new tuba. He stayed at home and took care of his parents as long as they lived.

On the 1865 census, age 17, birthplace Norderhov. From a short family history written by a child of Laura Winther: He was very nice looking. Mom liked him bes of all. He was very kind-hearted. His wife's name was Dina and they had three children, Hans, Sigurd and Gunar. Sigurd and Gunar were twins. Sigurd died young of pneumonia. Gunar married a woman named Anna and they had one son named Jorgen. Hans died about one month before Christian Schau died in 1900. Hans was about twenty years old when he died.
From a short family history written by a child of Laura Winther: Greta never married but she had a son named Frederick. Everyone said Jennie Lamb (daughter of Christian Schau and Marthe Juelsen) was the picture of Greta. Greta did housework in Oslo. Her son Frederick was a master of the harmonica and he used to play for gatherings and parties. He had five children and all of them were fine musicians. (Gunar who came to Salt Lake was one of them, the youngest) Frederick was still winning contests in skiing at age eighty-six.
Honefos was part of Norderhov prior to 1913.
Age and birthplace verified on 1865 Census. From a family history written by a child of Laura Schau Winther: Augusta married a good looking man from Trondheim. Hojen was his name. He was an engineer and he came to Honefoss and married her. He left her and went to the United States and she never heard from him again. She worked all the years and her daughter Gudbjor went to Trondheim and learned business. She came back to Honefoss and started a grocery business. When Mom and Dad (Ole Winther and Laura Schau) went to Norway, they stayed with her. When the Germans invaded Norway she lost everything and spent her last years in a rest home.
From a short family history written by a child of Laura Schau Winther: Lauritz came to the United States and married here and had one daughter, Bernice. He died of pneumonia.
