Mads ORNE

                       Mads Orne, called "Gambel-Orne" (older-Orne) lived before and after King
    Woldemarius and reached an age of about 90. Ship officer of high rank.
    He and son Svend fought the Vetalie robbers (Lickendelere) on the good ship
    "Orne-Tand" in Kattegatt and Oresund.
    The Norwegian branch of the Adels (nobility) family Orning arrived from Denmark
    in the fifteen hundreds (abt. 1563). The Danish line is thought to be a branch
    of the very old nobility Bolle (Bolge-Vove) of Broming, Krogende and other
    farms at Lolland. The coat of arms of the Bolles and Ornings were similiar.
    Some of the Norwegian Ornings are mentioned by genealogists and authors with
    the added name Vove.
    Mads Orne is supposed to be the first of the Bolle-family to use the name
    Orne-Orning. Orne (meaning villsvin or boar) was a personal name obtained
    because of his wild courage.
