                   DEATH:
    After the death of his father, Sidney Marcus went to the Salt Lake Valley with his Uncle Alexander and George Wesley Beckstead. In the Spring of 1864, he was called as a mechanic to go back to the Missouri River with Capt. John Murdock's company of teamsters.  While on this trip he visited his mother and other relatives in Sarpin County, Nebraska, on the river.  On the return trip, he must have stood his rifle in a bush while he mounted his horse.  They found him on the ground by his horse, shot in the head, the barrel of his gun clutched in his hand.  The captain said the hammer of the gun had caught in the bush and discharged killing him instantly.  They buried him by the side of the
