SOURCES: 1. 1998 Ancestral File 2. 1997 Ordinance Index NOTES: William Edward Trinnaman was born March, 16 1850, in Warwick Street, Woolwitch, Kent, England, a son of Elizabeth Williams and James Trinnaman. At the age of eight, upon the death of his father, he went as a apprentice in the Royal Arsenal. During this time the ship "The Great Eastern", was fitted out to lay the Atlantic Cable. At the age of twelve, he went to the Shipwright Orphan Wisemans school. At fourteen he apprenticed for seven years to a blacksmith and carriage builder. It was during this time that he met Eliza Rhoda Taylor at a Latter-day Saint Missionary meeting. They became very good friends and were later engaged. He worked until he obtained enough money to come to America in 1869. He took out his naturalization papers in October. In New York, he worked in a blacksmith shop, 13th Avenue A., then went to Detroit and sharpened tools for the stone cutters to build the city hall. In October, 1871, he sent for Eliza Rhoda Taylor to come to America and they were married on December 25, 1871, in Christ's Church, Detroit. Their first baby, Elizabeth Ann, was born in Detroit, February 13, 1874. In October, William Jackson and William Trinnaman came to Utah. They went to the Charles Penrose home, a missionary who had lived with them in England, and were treated very coldy by Mr. Penrose. A Mr. Phillips, passing by, overheard their conversation and said, "Come with me boys. I have been a stranger in a strange land and know how you feel." He made them welcome that night. They left next morning for Big Cottonwood Canyon to meet Mr. Trinnaman's elder brother, George Trinnaman, who was quarrying rock for the Salt Lake Temple, and came to Lehi the next day, October 17, 1874. After visiting with his mother, who had lived in Lehi for two years, he went to Bingham in search of work. He worked for Mr. McManime, shoeing mules and repairing ore cars for the Neptune Mine. In December he sent for his wife and baby who had been staying with his mother, and purchased a home in Bingham where they lived for ten years. During this time four sons were born: James, William, Edward, and Thomas. In 1863 they moved to Lehi to make their home. He built a blacksmith shop where the Park Service station now stands. He sharpened the tools to quarry the rock for the Third Ward Chapel and the Stake Tabernacle. In 1915 he built his last home where Albert Carlton now lives. On June 27, 1917, Eliza Rhoda died, age 69 years. She was loved by all who knew her. Twenty-one years later, December 10, 1938, he was called Home, age 88 years, 9 months.
