Historical Detail in NOTES Ralph Farnum (1662)Ralph came with his father to America from Eng. in about 1635 on theBrig called James, landing in Boston. Ralph Snr. received a 4 acre houselot in Andover and also received additional land in the 1st, 2nd, and 3rddivision of land which was consolidate into a single parcel adjacent tohis house lot.The witchcraft trials in Salem, MA spread into Andover and forty oneor more persons were accused of witchcraft. Eight were condemned andthree were hanged. In "Historical Sketches of Andover" a story is told ofhow Martha Carrier "... was the only one of all, male or female, who didnot at some time or other make an admission or confession." None of theFarnhams were accused but, sad to say, two of Ralph's sons were called totestify against her.Sources:Your Ancestors, by H. F.
