Yxe is a company village that owned farms and mines. Between 1667 & 1891 230 families lived on Yxe. The nearest town was Lindesberg which also was the name of the parish. The name of farm where August was born was Hogasen under Yxe, which presume meant south of Yxe. August's father was Anders Andersson and his grandfather was Anders Ersson who worked for the Yxe company as a Dagkarl [ Dayman ]. August emigrated to Red Wing, Minn. in 1881 to work for the Railroad. He stayed at a boarding house where he met and married Anna Brita Jonson who came to America in 1882. They moved to Cannon Falls where Fred and William were born. Work ended in that area and they heard there was railroad work in the North Branch-Cambridge area. That proved false and they ended up homesteading the farm where they spent the rest of their life. n Information from GS 221358. SOURCES: 1. 1997 Ordinance Index 2. Ancestral File 3.
