info from Sue, see Woodcocks: Ellen Bruce is the daughter of Olive Small, who first married Hoard, then married Bruce, then Mr. Campbell, Mr Fields and finally, Mr Wallace, and she passed away in Alcester SD as Mrs Wallace.

"Early History of Hoard and other Pioneer Families as related by Lyon J. Hoard."
printed in Alcester, Union Co., SD, Thursday May 8, 1958:
Olive Jackson first married Putnam Hoard who died in 1844 after birth of one son, Harvey Putnam Hoard. Then she married Joseph Bruce and had two daughters, Ellen and Mary. Joseph Bruce died in California "during the early days of the gold rush." Olive joined her son and came to Richland, Wisconsin during the Civil War. Then she followed her son and his wife to Sioux Co. Iowa about 1870. Probably about 1873 she went to Alcester, SD.
Then she married Henry Wallace, and for a time lived in Hawarden, Ia. She died in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Mary Carlton, and is buried in Pleasant Hill cemetery.
