Obituary - Dark
Samuel L. Dark was born June 3?, 18..., at McLouth, Kansas and died at Lecompton, Kansas, May 21?, 1923, after a lingering illness aged 47? years, 11 months and 14? days.
During early manhood he went to Oklahoma at the time the territory was opened, where he helped to lay out the townsite of Mason? which is a thriving town today.  He remained there three years, operating the Bret? Store built in Mason??
On Feb 12, 1895?, he was united in marriage to Mary E. Dick of McLouth and resided on a farm near town until March 1914.  There their 4? children were born.
In 1917 he moved to a farm near Big Springs, Kansas, residing there until the fall of 1935, when he moved to Lecompton because of poor health.
His pleasant disposition and jovial ....will long be remembered by all who knew him.
Those who survive him are: his wife Mary E. Dark, his daughter, Gladys Halloway, .....and Harley, Lecompton and Clarence, McAllen, Texas, ...grandchildren, Eugene Harding?, Darla, Lura and Geraldine Halloway, all of Lecompton.  His aged mother, Elizabeth Dark, McLouth, Two sisters, Mrs. A.M. Dick, McLouth, Mrs. M. ? Hummer, Topeka, two brothers, Edward McLouth, Henry of Topeka and a number of other relatives and a host of friends.  Funeral services were held Sunday at U.M. Church in Lecompton, Burial at McLouth.
