The early Twombley--Twambley--Twombly appear to have pioneered in the south east corner of New Hampshire and southwest corner of Maine. That was all part of Massachusetts originally. Berwick in York County had some Twombley names. Lebanon and Berwick were in York. Joseph and Hiram left Maine for Ohio about 1810-1820; also a Nathaniel Twombley went to Ohio, different county.
