Hi Jane,
Thank you so much for responding so quickly. Yes, this is the right family, however, Charles married Dora which I'm sure was just a typo. Charles was the youngest of 4 siblings that I know of and apparently their mother died before 1857. I was wondering if you knew anymore about the family such as James' first wife's name and who the siblings of Charles might have married. The siblings were Andrew, Mary A. and Ralph: since it's not your line, you may not know any more than I do. Did you want any more information on the Banghart family in Ontario?
Thank you again for information on the Trott family.

I think I was looking at the 1880 census where Charles' father Jamesis at the beginning of the list. This will teach me not to answermail in the middle of the night

I have an 1883 directory for Berlin Township, St. Clair Co., MI(which is where I grew up) that lists:Charles BANGHART farmer section 27 BervilleJames BANGHART farmer section 27 BervilleIn the 1888 directory only Charles is still listed. in the samesection but with a Smith post office (I have no idea where Smithmight be so the name must have changed. The Post Office is nowAllenton as the Berville one closed when I was in high school.)Charles is still there in 1893/4, but not in 1919. Section 27 islocated about 1 mile west of Berville on the north side of Hough Rd.Isadora's father, Daniel TROTT had land in that section and both tothe west & across Hough Rd. to the south in sections 28 & 33.. Thereare several pictures of Isadora Trott BANGHART on my site atLook under the SHOESMITH & TROTT Family Gathering ca. 1910. I'm surethat Charles is somewhere in the family photo, but I don't know whichone. My Grandfather, Avery TROTT is at the far right with the kneesof his pants looking like he slid into home plate playing baseballA cousin, Mark Shoesmith, has done extensive work on the Shoesmithtree which includes the Trotts as Daniel Trott married LouisaShoesmith around 1840. Mark has James BANGHART marrying Clarinda H.SHELDON (23 Sep 1806 - 11 Sep 1895) in St. Clair Co. on 22 Apr 1857.There's no mention of an earlier wife other than there must have beenone. The 1870 census shows that Ralph was born in Canada whileCharles was born in Michigan, meaning that James' first wife musthave died somewhere in the state. James & Clarinda are buried inEast Berlin Cemetery on Masters Road, just west of Berville Road.Charles & Isadora had Frank K. (b.Jun 1881) & Mable, (b. Aug 1885).The children were living with them in the 1900 census & the farm isthriving with 130 farm animals. (I wonder if they counted chickens asthat's a lot of animals) In 1910, the children are no longer livingat home, but Charles' sister Margaret MILLER is living with them, sothat may be some help in tracing Mary A. (I've noticed that a numberof my ancestors changed their names from one census to another, butall the other facts fit.) In 1916, Charles owned 40 acres in Section15 next to my Great-grandfather, Frank TROTT, son of Daniel & Louisa. The Michigan BANGHART's 4th generation contains our "black sheep" -Frank BANGHART's son was Basil BANGHART, also known as "The Owl" anda member of the Touhey Gang among others. If you put his name alongwith "The Owl" into Google, all sorts of interesting tales pop up.I think it's sort of neat to have an outlaw cousin, but my motherdoes not share my opinion. Hope this helps some..Jane
