John Pettey is of unidentified parentage. He is listed in "Vital Records
of R.I. 1636-1850" Vol #2, Providence County, pages 14 and 27.
Francis Richmond Sears, the genealogist who assisted Norman W. Pettys,
Sr., in developing this genealogy, suggested this John Pettey could have
been a some of James, 3; Ja mes, 2; John, 1, who removed to Tiverton,
R.I., as it is clear this John Pett ey came from Dartmouth, Mass. to
Warren, R.I., as he is called of the former town in his marriage
intentions.
