Her maiden name may have been changed to Herrick. The following was received from Marjorie Fisher in May 1993, on hand-written double letter size paper: "Valentin Herchelradt, father of Margaret, may have lived in New York before 1740. His son was named Heinrich and he [Heinrich] later moved to Virginia. That is where [Virginia] Capt. Johann Peter Hedrick took her, his wife Margaret, during the American Revolutionary War when the Tories burned their home and drove off the livestock about 1777. While they lived at `mother's brother's, Henry's, home', Francis Hedrick was born. They returned to 4-Mile in Rowan Co. after the war - 1782. The captain is found on a war tax list in VA in f1782. This Valentin Herchelradt is not found on the 1790 census - therefore he was deceased. Recap: 1700 - The Herchelradt's imigrated to the colonies. May have settled in New York. Later moved into the Tulpehochen Church Community in PA. They lived in Heidelberg Township, Lancaster Co., PA. Margaret H. was born there in 1740."
