NOTES: 1. Georgia Marriages to 1850 shows Isaac Downs married to Mary Ann Critinton on 9 Jan 1809 in Richmond Co. GA. It also shows Isaac Downs married to Elizabeth Bennett on 23 Dec 1827 in Richmond Co. GA. If, indeed, Isaac Downs (father of Lindsey Warren Downs) was born about 1810, then it is unlikely he is the husband on Mary Ann Critinton. Isaac Downs (father of Lindsey Warren) is likely the son of Isaac (married to Mary Ann Critinton). 2. Other children listed on a census: Isabella and Hester 3. Augusta Chronicle (microfilm no. AN13.A88C45, Univ. of Georgia main library, basement. Index on main floor, Georgia Room). Five references to Isaac Downs found. 03/10/1819 Note-I am confined in Richmond jail for debt to be taken before the judge on April 10. 12/07/1820 Sheriff's sale of 425 acres of land where Isaac Downs lives to satisfy an execution in favor of David Cody. 03/02/1823 Forfeiting a slave. 05/07/1821 Owed a man $35. 09/27/1821 Couldn't find any reference in the paper. The Index lists Downs whose names appear in the Chronicle from 1791 to 1823. They are: Col., William, Jonathan, Henry, Jacob, George Jr., George, David, Crawford, Anderson, and Cyrus. The Index lists the page number and column number where the names appear. In each case, it appears that the names are listed in that section of the paper dealing with financial and legal transactions. My experience looking for Isaac tells me that it is highly unlikely that any other family members or relations accompany the listings.
