Jay Meeks is the father of Richard James May but was never married to his mother Clarinda May. This information was shared with us by Richard James May in May 2000 when Jack May and I visited him at his home in Riverton, Wyoming.

Listed in the Shoshone Tribal Registration Office, Ft. Washaki, Wyoming with birth date of 2/18/1904. Her son James Richard May has her birth date listed as 2/19/1904. He said that she was buried in Riverton, Wyoming. Her brother is listed as 1/8 Indian, so she should be 1/8 Indian.
Clarinda's son, Richard James May is listed on his birth record in the tribal office with the name of May and there is no father listed. He told Vern T. May on 18 May 2000 that his father was JayMeeks, but that Meeks had run off before he was born.
