    Was born Axel Henry Anderson - name changed by mother to Allen James Anderson which he went by entire life. This individual went by the name of Allen James Anderson for all of his adult life.  When trying to verify his eligibility for Social Security retirement, no birth record could be found in New York for him.  In my research (RJA) I found his birth record under the name of Axel Henry - 8 Nov 1897.  This information solved the mystery of where he was born and what his name really was at birth.
