BIRTH, MARRIAE & DEATH: Estimated. BAPTISM, ENDOWMENT & SEALED TO SPOUSE: Family File Temple Ordinance card in possession of Helen Sharp Madsen. This work was most probably done at the instance of Thomas Davis Giles while he was living, but has not been located at this time (2001) NOTES FROM JOURNAL OF THOMAS DAVIS GILES CONCERNING HIS WIFE'S PARENTS. where I and my Father and Father-in-law went to hear them preach the doctrine which they preached appeared very strange to us. In a short time after this, my Father-in-law joined the Saints and in something about 9 months as I was going to my meeting I met my Father-in-law as he was going to his. He very pressingly invited me to go with him to hear the truth 4th Sept 1852 Reading &c and in the afternoon went to Merthyr and spent the last part of the day at Presdt Phillips house. I rested this night at my father-in-laws house. 5th I went to brother John Davies Printers house to transact a little business concerning the books I also dined there, I then went to my father-in-laws house who was very sick and he entreated on me to lay hands upon him, which I did beseeching the Lord to bless him, and in a few hours he died. 7th Writing etc., and in the afternoon went to Merthyr Tydfill and rested at my late father-in-laws 8th Oct 1852 In Presdt Phillips company, and in the afternoon in my father-in-laws funeral who was buried in the churchyard of old Merthyr church. He was a saint for 8 or 9 years and an elder about 4, he died in the faith, his age when he died was 57 years. 20th I returned home, doing some business on the way by going relative to emigration and went the same day to Merthyr intending to meet Presdt Phillips there but I was disappointed, he had newly gone from home. I slept overnight at my mother-in-laws. 14th I spent most of this day in the society of Pt Philips in the evening I went to the Cefn where a concert was held. I lodged this night at My Mother-in-laws house, (Ann Thomas). 13th Sunday attended the conference at 10 A.M. & at 2 P.M. I commenced the meeting with prayer. Elder D L Spencer gave some excellent instructions & I was called upon to sing The Seer, The Seer etc & at 6 P.M. we had much good instruction from our Presidents which were very interesting. Slept the night at my mother-in-laws March 27th I attend council and a Love feast in the evening At which I was called upon to preach & to Sing The Seer I was entertained for the night at my mothe-in-laws July 3rd attend council at Merthyr and a love feast in the evening I was entertained while there by my mothe- in-law. 24th Sept 1855 at home this day my mother-in-law was married to Bro. Thos Jerman.

BIRTH : Testimated. MARRIAGE: Thomas Davis Giles Journal. Ann was his mother-in-law and he attended the marriage. DEATH: Estimated. Since there was no posative verification for this work having been done before it was done again for verifiable dates, although it is most probable that the work was done earlier at the instance of Thomas Davis Giles. On the 27th September Mrs. Ann Thomas married Brother Thomas Jerman who had three sons. She emigrated in the same company as her daugher, Margaret Thomas Giles and her grandchildren Maria (who died and was buried in Chicago), Joseph and Hyrum Giles.
