RESIDENCE: 1787 tax record of Albemarle County, Virginia shows he has one male child between the ages of 16-21, no slaves of that age. He has 3 horses and 9 cows. HISTORY: The Military Pension File of James Dunn, son of John Dunn,claim 8. 8359, states that James Dunn was born December 10, 1759 in Orange County,Virginia, and when a child his parents moved to Albermarle County, Virginia. LAND: Orange County Deed Book 12, page 441, dated 27 Apr 1758. Edmund Taylor of Caroline County sold 160 acres to John Dunn [I believe it was on Blue Run]. Deed Book 52, page 191, John and Anne sold that same land to Alexander Marr on 24 Jul 1760. Jon and Nancy [not Anne] of Albemarle County sold another 160 acre tract [Prites? Creek] to Robert Orsby of Orange County [witnessed by William Dunn]. It is possible that this second 160 acre tract was acquired via a Land Grant. LAND: To all to whom these presents shall come Greeting. Know ye that I Susanna Roberts of County of Albemarle for and in consideration of sum of 55L current money of Virginia to me in hand paid by these presents for me my heirs and successors fo bargain sell and make over unto John Dunn of County aforesaid & to is heirs one certain tract or parcel of land ling and being in county aforesaid containing 200 acres being the land whereon the said Dunn now lives and is bounded Beginning at pointers on the side of the Hill in the line that was formerly john keys and with that line north forty five degrees West sixty poles to a pine. Thence new lines South seventy three degrees West sixty seven poles to a Pine on a Ridge. then South fifty six degrees West one hundred and twenty poles to pointers, then West thirty two poles to pointers on a Ridge, then South twenty seven degrees West Thirty nine poles to pointers in the County line, tence on the same South sixty five degrees East one hundred Seventy six poles to pointers near a Branch,thence North thirty one degrees East two hundred and twenty poles being the Dividing Line to the first Station. with all houses orchards gardens and all the Estate right title and claim of me Susannah Roberts my heirs to have and to hold the said tract of lnad be the same more or less according to thre bounds aforesaid with all appurtenances unto said John Dunn his heirs and I the said Susanna Roberts doth hereby covenant for myself my heirs that I will warrant the said land and all appurtenances thereunto belonging unto said John Dunn and is heirs against me the said Susanna Roberts and my heirs and forever defend by these presents In Witnness whereof I hve hereunto set my hand & Seal this 9 Feb 1772. Witness: Hudson Martin, John Carr, William Dunn (this must be his son) 10 June 1779 between Ephraim Simmonds and Mary is wife of Conty of Albemaqrle of one part and John Dun of County aforesaid of other part; witnesseth that Ephraim Simmonds and Mary his wife in consideration of 75L sell unto John Dunn his heirs one certain tract of land containing by estimation 300 acres lying on the Branches of Beaver Damand bounded by William Rogers and East to Mills's, and Webb's. no wintesses recorded 31 Dec 1779 between William Rogers of Albearle Co. of one part and John Dun of same of other paqrt. for 400L for 100 acres land which John Du n liveth on and bounded. Witness: James Dunn, Willoiam Dunn, Martin Dunn (his sons) WILL: Albemarle County Will Book 3 page 164-165 John Dunn of Albemarle infirm, to beloved wife tract of land where I now live, supposed to cantain 100 acres, during her life, likewise all stock, furniture, and plantation tools, etc. To myu three sons James Dunn, Martin Dunn and Rueben Dunn all lands equally divided.. James to have his part adgoining where he now lives, Martin...on the other end adjoining Joseph Guines? line; Rueben part to adgoin where I now live. Wife Ann and son James exors.
