Bir: Letter written by Boyd Butler son of Emma 9th child of Albartus Bivins Bir: Letter written by Boyd Butler son of Emma 9th child of AlbartusBivins Birth: Letter written by Boyd Butler son of Emma 9th child of Albartus Bivins. Oral Interview with Amanda Bivins Williams (12th child of Albartus Bivins) reveals that Emeline and Albartus were seperated after the birth of their daughter Sophronia Jane Bivins. HISTORY: In a letter to Ester Brown from a cousin May ? it states that "Boyd Butler said that Albatus Bibins and Emiline Corley were married on Oct. 11, 1876. He said Emiline had a son at this time. Then Safronie Bivins was born June 28, 1877, and died April 30, 1966. He wasn't sure where she was buried so he drove up to Crisco, Texas to the cemetery and had a little trouble finding the grave since there is no marker at the grave. But she was buried by her son whose gave has a marker. Boyd said he didn't know if Safronie was born before or after the seperation of Albartus and Emeline. But I've heard mom say that she had the baby when she left him, and grandpa (Albartus) gave her her (Emeline) a horse and buggy and $100.00 and sent her to her folks because she wasn't happy. I remember that my mom said that Emiline would walk the hills and cry, and put her apron over her head. Boyd said that he heard his mom say that gandpa put her on a horse or in a buggy and told her to go back to her own people, that he wouldn't live with a woman that couldn't get along with his children. Boyd said he doubted any woman could do that, the way they were raised up. Boyd said Emeline's people lived around Cisco, Texas, and they tell a different tale. They say he (Albartus) ran off and left her. Anyway, Aunt Safrona (the daughter of Emiline & Albartus) ended up living with a Mr. Saunders and his wife. While living with the Saunders, he got her pregnant. Safronie's son was born Aug. 6, 1903, and died Aug 17 1945. O. B. Bivins married and had some children. After Albartus died, Mama decided she would hunt up Aunt Fronie, she finally located her and she had her son and no husband (which was looked on as shameful and a disgrace back then) so she said we'll just forget her, and did till a few years after Trudie and I married. The folks at Cisco (Saunders daughter) came down here to a neighbors to buy some blackberries. She called mama on the phone, and told her who she was and asked her to write and visit Aunt Safronie, and we did. Safronie was married to a Mr. Ray, who died before Aunt Fronie died. They didn't marry until both were old. Now go back a bit: after Mr. Saunders go Safronie pregnant he couldn't marry her, so her gave her a grocery store, or the money to buy one. She had sold it a while before we started visiting her. Safronie Bivins Ray died and was buried at Cisco, Eastland County,Texas. I don't think the way Boyd talks that he liked grandpa Bivins. He speaks of him marrying so many times and moving every year. That's about all I know about her."
