            Daniel Epley--application # 41239.
            Daniel Epley filed Oct. 22, 1925 in Mills County, Mullins, Texas;
            and was approved on Aug. 31, 1925.  Answers to questions asked
            were that Daniel was age 79 at time of application, he had resided
            in Texas for 71 years, he now lived in Mills County, and had lived
            in Mullins, Texas for the past 70 years. He served in the military
            for about 3 years.  Witnesses on the application were John W.
            Fisher and J. L. Herrington.  The following letters were included
            in with the application.  Letter: "We are the sister of Daniel
            Epley.  We remember distindtly when he came home and told our
            mother that he had enlisted in the Confederated Army.  He then went
            to a drilling camp, was gone about 30 days and then left for the
            army.  We saw him no more until after the War was over."  Signed:
            M. E. Bull and M. L. Fisher. Dated Oct. 18, 1924.   Another letter
            was from John S. Chesser, trying to help Daniel Epley recieve a
            pension.  Mr. Chesser stated that previous application lacked a
            Mrs. E. A. Wright as one of the witnesses.
                 Daniel enlisted on March 1st, 1867 in Burnett County, Texas
            under Captain Bill Lackwood, then shortly after he was transfered
            (because his father moved to Lampasas) to the Lampasas Home Guards
            Texas Calvary in Captain Mullins company, under Major Erath of
            Gatewood.  Also Company C Frontier Guard Texas Calvary under
            Lient. John F. Conner.  Also under Captain Jim Brown of  San Saba
            County, Texas.  Daniel Epley enlisted with Larkin Payne, Tol Dawson
            Bill Phillips, and W. R. Steward.

          According to Ann Bowman (RBomwn3@satx.rr.com) a researcher on the Joy           Family wrote that Purivine Permelia's maiden name was Joy.   She
            apparently was married twice before marrying David Epley.  Her                other marriages were to a Miller and a Milne. Her marriage to
            David Epley was recorded in their family bible.
