Thompson at Black Oak Point, in which the latter struck the former which caused him to procure a warrant, and Mr. Daniel Epley was deputized to arrest him, and whilst performing this duty, Thompson stabbed him with a knife eighteen inches long which resulted in his death on the following morning. Thompson is now in custody and undoubtedly will be dealt with by law as he justly deserves, and his fate cannot be too severe, for he has robbed the life of one of our oldest and most respectable citizens. They had had seven children up to the time I left Tennessee. I also know that she has never married since the death of her husband Henry Burkett. I was born the 27th day of August 1813. I have no interest whatever in this pension. Signed Jan. 28th 1879 George Epley with and X as his mark. A copy of this document was given to me by Oliver Webb of Tampa Florida.
