1. A history of North Brookfield, Worcester, Massachusetts tells of a 1693 Indian attack on the early residents of "Quabaug", the original name of Brookfield. The attack resulted in the deaths of several residents including Joseph Mason and his son and the capture of teenager Daniel Lawrence and the "wife and infant child of Joseph Mason. The infant was killed the first night out."
