John MERRILL

                   Research:  John and Nathaniel MERRILL, probable sons of Nathaniel MERRELL and Mary BLOCKSOLL of Wherwtead, arrived in America in the mid 1630s,k residing a year or so at Ipswich, MA, prior to moving to Newbury before 1638.  An article in Cutter's NEW YORK FAMILIES, pages 856-857, summarizes the descent from Nathaniel MERRILL of England and Newbury, MA to Elizabeth MERRILL, wife of Elijah Mason MOREY.  The article continues with the families of Elizabeth's brother Smjith Merrill and of his son Frank Merton Merrill.

Research: Although son John was exexcutor and major legate of Gregory WOLTERTON, Susannah was not the sister of Gregory, a tanner of Hartford,k Hartford, Connecticut.  Susanna's surname is not known.
