Hans SORENSEN (TOONSEIE)

Sire was never married.  She lived with her bachlor brother Christian Hansen on the Bjorkrud farm.  Both of these people raised Maren Sorensdtr. and Sofie Thomasdatter (Brunes).

Kristian Hansen Bjorkerud was a bachlor.  He and a spinster sister Siri Hansdtr. Bjorkerud raised Maren Sorensdtr (Oderud) and Sofie Thomasdatter (Brunes).  Sofie Thomasdatter's parents died of T.B. when she was very young.  Maren Sorensdtr's mother died in child birth when Maren was an infant and was raised by Kristian and Siri, her Aunt and Uncle) also.

Kristian and Siri Bjorkerud owned the farm that Maren and Sofie were raised on.  Knut, Christian, and baby Maren Nohre were children of above mentioned Maren and were born on the Bjorkerud farm and called it home also.  Kristian Hansen Bjorkerud is the man my father Knut Nohre called Grandfather (was really his Grand Uncle).

Kristian was a witness to Berthe Jorgine Sorensen another niece's baptism.

He was a nice man, he used to share his lunch with friends who didn't have enough food.

Kristian Hansen took over the farm Bjorkerud in 1879 and in 1909 sold it to Anders Knutsen Nohre who had married his niece, Maren Sorensen.

In 1915 my grandmother donated some ground from the farm to the Luthern church. For this the family was given burial space in the church yard.  (this statement needs to be verified....info came from my father Knut Nohre - her son but others hadn't heard about the gift).

In 1943 my grandmother sold the farm to Sigrid Svendby, her cousin (whom she had raised from time she was 5 years old) and her husband Kara Aasmundrud. Their son Ole Aasmundrud purchased the farm from his mother Sigrid Svendby Aasmundrud in 1981.  Their oldest son Knut Henning Aasmundrud lives on the farm but it still belongs to his father.

Soren Oderud lived at Nordengen in Nakkerud.

Soren was a farmer and miner.  He mined Cobalt - Modum has the worlds largest Cobalt mine about 1800-1848 (used to make Blue Paint).

He was a widower with 4 children.  His son, Hans Sorensen born 1868 in Hole, Berthe Jorgine Sorensdatter born 1870 in Heggen, Maren Sofie Sorensdatter (my grandmother) born 1874 in Heggen, and one more daughter Helene.

Caroline Hansdatter Bjorkerud is the sister of Soren Hansen Bjorkerud - born 1840 (my Great Grandfather). Caroline died after her daughter Sofie was born.
