George was a member of the 25th Quorum of Seventies, High Priest, Councelor to Bishop Snow for 7 years, Missionary to Europe 1861-63. He assisted in making the first ferryboat, and taking across the Missouri the first load of immigrants westward bound.He was a guard to Joseph and Hyrum Smith at Nauvoo. He organized San Pete County. He was the Constable of Manti, Probate Judge of San Pete County, 1852-1878. He served seven terms in the Utah legislature. He was a commander in the Utah militia against the Indians. First postmaster of Manti 1853-78. Wrote historical sketch of the settlement of San Pete county. Founded the first public library at Manti in 1865.
