John Higley is noted as the first progenitor in the Higley line to live in America.
John Higley married twice. He and first wife Hannah Drake married 9 Nov. 1671 and had ten children, she died in 1694 and he remarried in 1696 to Sarah Strong Bissell. It was a second marriage for her also she had married Joseph Bissell 7 July,1686. John and Sarah had seven children and some one had them sealed to Sarah Strong Bissell and her first husband Joseph Bissell. The note on the family group record says: These children were sealed to Joseph Bissell first husband and to their mother Sarah Strong Date 24 June 1947 S.L.
