Opal also married Herman Strouse who had been married previously, wife died and left him with 7 children. Opal took those children and raised them with all of hers. She divorced Strouse due to his drinking but raised all the children and put them through Edgerton, Ohio High School. They all thought the world of her. Opal never remarried after that.

According to Helen Swindler Renell 8-7-99 She said that her mother, Opal, said that William Francis Gordon was not the father of Leona. Opal never told who the father was. She was embarrassed about her mistake and did not disclose who the father was. Gordon evidently stated that he was the father of Leona. No one really knows for sure.

Herman Strouse built the house that burned at Christmas time 1937....children accidently set the fire...one of his kids was playing with matches. They got out with their lives and that was about all that was saved.
