PRIVATE PRIVATE 63 602 ////////////////////// 1850 Census Dekalb Co.,Tenn..8th Dist. There is a Mary Dyer, 55, Bn: not known. Children: Carol, Nancy, Emeline.. 1999 Jan 18....Clellie Maggart Ballard, cousin on the Maynard and Dyer lines said yesterday that Mary Dyer, Lena Dyer's sister (both now deceased), did a lot of research and had found a John Dyer in Christian County, Kentucky, that she thought was our John Dyer. This was before he came into Tennessee and that she had the line back to 1731. Will have to look into the Christian Co.,Ky information. note: Preator said that this is a possible relative..not our John Dyer he thinks...he traced this and identified his sons, but not grandchildren.....he had information on this.....8-25-99. Book: The Descendants of John Dyer and Mary Youngblood 1998 by Richard Preator, 957 Gregory Peculiar, MO 64078 copy in my possession. "JOHN DYER was born about 1792, his place of birth is not proven, but was more likely in North Carolina, where according to the census records his brother, James Dyer was born. The first record of John in Jackson County, Tennessee appears on pg 7 of the 1820 Census. At this time he may have been living on his tract known as the Grider Place, which contained about 200 acres. His close neighbors were John Rippetoie, Abraham Buck and Montgomery Kenard. Though not mention in his will, this tract of land was also very close to his brother James Dyer's farm. In this same general area, John, owned a tract of land known as the Buffalo Wallow of unknown proportions. One of these tracts was surveyed by Richard Cooke on June 25, 1830 and was described as being on the head waters of Martins Creek in the Dogwood flat near the Buffalo Wallow. Peter Anderson and James Dyer were witnesses to the survey. In the Jackson County Ranger Book John is mentioned as living on the Walton Road in 1823. This 200 acre farm is where the family resided until they moved to Dekalb County, Tennessee in the early 1840's." NOTE: Many of his children were probably born in Jackson County, Tenn. "In the early 1840'S John Dyer and his family moved to Dekalb County, Tenn and settled on Mine Lick Creek. In recent years the Dyer family cemetery there was taken up and moved to make way for the Center Hill Lake (Dam waters). It was identified as Cemetery #55. The cemetery was located behind the home of Millie Luven?? ....Millie's home was on a portion of her father's farm, she also had possession of the family records and pictures that were in the family trunk until she died. The graves are now located in the Mt. Holley Cemetery in Plot #55. There were 14 graves moved that were unidentified." Note: two of these are undoubtedly John Dyer's and his wife, Mary "Polly" Youngblood. /////////////////////////////////////////////////

She was a Miss Avant, of Dismal Creek. I was only six months old when she became the wife of William Youngblood, and I was sixty-eight years old Sept. 23, 1913. There were about thirty houses in Liberty when I was a child, and nearly all the public travel was by stagecoach." Note: could William Youngblood and Miss. Avant be related to my Mary/Polly Youngblood? ////////////////////////// Information on Youngblood line from Richard E. Preator, Jr, 957 Gregory, Peculiar, Mo, 64078 who is writing a book on James Dyer. He said his information came from Jean Dobson, who found the information in a small library in Oklahoma. This all needs to be varified. Publisher of his book: Higginson Publishers, in Salem, Mass. 1999... He said that they didn't charge him for doing it...not a perfect copy. Quality is not the best. Affordable...puts the information out there. It would cost a lot more to do a better book.... Talked to him on phone .....my Dad Mormon, Dad Baptist.....raised Baptist...not a Mormon.... Preator records...."after John Dyer died in 1844, it is said by the family that his widow Polly married a man named Tolliver, but that she had the marriage annulled because he was cruel to her children." "Mary's real name was Jane Mary Youngblood but evidently she seldom used her Given name." In the early 1840's John Dyer and his family moved to Dekalb Co. and settled on Mine Lick Creek. In recent years the Dyer family cemetery there was taken up and moved to make way for the Center Hill Lake, it was identified as cemetery #55. The cemetery was located behind the home of Millie Luvenia (Dyer) Palmer. Millie's home was on a portion of her father's farm, she also had possession of the family records and pictures that were in the family trunk until she died. The graves are now located in the Mount Holley cemetery in plot #55. There Were 14 graves moved that were unidentified.....one of these was believed to be John dyer's and his wife Polly's grave was probably there too. Information from Clifford w. Youngblood, 8926 Echo Valley, Houston, Texas 77055 Letter, 4-7-93 in file..."I do have a mary "polly" youngblood who was born 1792, probably in N.C., but no marriage inf. She was the daughter of Jeremiah Youngblood and Mary "Polly" Birgit, who were married in Johnston Co, N.C.. He has additional information on other Mary Youngblood's. Note: conclusion....these clues are helpful but only clues till proof is found.
