GEORGE SOULE
George Soule came to Plymouth on the Mayflower as a servant of Edward Winslow.
George Soule married after the voyage to Plymouth. His wife was named Mary. By the time of the Division of Cattle in 1627, they had one son Zachariah. Mary Soule is probably Mary Buckett, who is listed in the 1623 Division of Land. George and Mary Soule had 9 children.
George Soule moved to Duxbury and acquired considerable property. He was a volunteer in the Pequot War and served as a deputy for Duxbury and as a member of numerous town committees.
George Soule died in 1679. Click HERE for his will and the inventory of his estate.

ANCESTRAL SUMMARY:
The parentage of George Soule remains unknown. Several published ancestries have subsequently been disproven, such as that in The English Ancestry and Homes of the Pilgrim Fathers, by Charles Banks, 1929.
There are three George Soule baptisms listed in the I.G.I. parish register abstractions:
9 February 1595, Tingrith, Bedford (son of William)
21 April 1605, All Saints, Sudbury, Suffolk (son of Robert)
28 February 1615, Flitwick, Bedford (son of George)
The Tingrith, Bedford record should definitely be investigated further. It should be noted that George Soule Jr named his second son William--perhaps after his grandfather. The 1605 and 1615 record are certainly not those of the Mayflower passenger, because George Soule would have been of legal age when he signed the Mayflower Compact in 1620.

More on George Soule

Message:
I have seen a book (I'm afraid I do not have its name at hand), on the shelves at the Family
History Library in SLC, where the author went through archives in England trying to
identify which of the several George Soules in existance at that time in England is the
George Soule of the Mayflower. His results were inconclusive. In other words, just
because a George Soule of the same time period shows up in a baptismal record in the IGI
does not mean it is safe to conclude that it is the same George Soule who imigrated on the
Mayflower.
Also, there is a book available, "A contribution to the surname of Soule, Soules, ..." by a
Rev. G. T. Ridlon that lists just about every Soule that was around a hundred years ago
with their lineage back to George of the Mayflower. I have read other sources on
Mayflower genealogy that say that that book is not reliable. Many Family group sheets
from the LDS Library in SLC (and perhaps names in the IGI) draw upon this source, and
perpetuate the errors. For instance, in my own line, it lists a partial marriage date which I
have corrected through my own research. There is no substitute for original research.
