Hi Tommie,
I'm not getting very far on trying to find information from death records for Abijah and Betsey's children. I was hoping to land a record that states their parents names as a way to varify Betsey Peck's name. Shirley Rogers in SLC is still pecking away (no pun intended) trying to locate a shred of evidence on our Betsey Peck.
I received a letter from The Port Library in Beloit, Kansas regarding the death of Betsey Farnsworth who married Pierce. I had sent for obituary of Elizabeth or Betsey Farnsworth Pierce. The librarian sent me some research that she did for me:

1-Scottsville Cemetery -Mitchell Co.,Kansas
Pierce, Betsy 22 Nov 1802 (birth) 28 Feb 1897 (death)
2-Register of Deaths Roll #1.....listed her death as 28 Mar 1897
94 years old...female...white...grip-heart failure(cause of death) date: 3-28-97 reported by A. Dukle undertaker
Beloit 3-28-97
3-The Beloit Gazette Newspaper Obituary, Thursday, April 1, 1897 ....under heading of
   Scottsville Scintillations
"Death called from our midst, last Sunday night, the oldest person in this section in the person of Grandma Pierce, mother of Oliver Pierce. Mrs. Pierce was almost 95 years old at the time of her death. She ws buried in Scottsville Cemetery, the funeral ceremony being conducted by Rev. G. W. Werts."

I do have a letter out to a librarian that may bear some fruit on church records in Woodstock....keep your fingers crossed.
Love, Ellie
PS Hope you had a wonderful 4th of July...we sure did What a blessing to be an American

It is interesting to note that Milo Farnsworth, Oliver's son, was born in Cortland County, NY....So, this may indicate that for a period of time.....Olivers family and his sisters family (Betsy & Jared Pierce) lived in Cortland County. We know that Oliver went from NY to Boston>NYCity>Ohio.
Jared & Betsy have a child in: New York

This is some of the information that I had. I am sorry I cannot locate my files. I must have thrown the rest out because it didn't belong to my family. But anyhow this gentlemen has been doing research on this family for some time. He would be the perfect person to contact and talk to about these people.

Good luck

I am working on my Farnsworth family history and have had some wonderful success that begins where the Farnsworth Memorial II leaves off in my section of the family. Specifically, I am referring to Elizabeth
Farnsworth, daughter of Abijah Farnsworth and his wife Betsy Peck, and her children.

Elizabeth was married to Jared Pierce, whom I understand (and am trying to confirm) died 15 Jul 1867 in Lacon, Marshall, Illinois. There were five children produced by this marriage - Lucy A., Franklin Elijah, Oliver F.,
Plummer Frederick and Stephen Milo. The Farnsworth Memorial II also listed another sibling Nancy L.

My gg grandmother was Lucy A. Pierce and she was married to Robert A. Seymour. Robert called her by "Nancy". Records, including census, marriage, death certificates, etc., use the names "Lucy" and "Nancy" interchangeably. Robert Seymour was born in Virginia in 1816 and married Lucy Pierce 6 Dec 1851 in Peoria, Illinois. Robert A. Seymour is buried in Gowrie, Webster, Iowa. Lucy is buried in Scottsville, Mitchell, Kansas, along with her mother, Elizabeth "Betsy" (Farnsworth) Pierce and several other family members The certificate lists first "Lucy Pierce" and then "Nancy Pierce" (with the name Lucy with a line drawn through it). In the 1870 U.S. Census, Robert Seymour and his family make their home in Clover, Henry, Illinois (Woodhull, Ill.)and Robert's wife is listed as "Nancy L.".
In the 1880 U.S. Census for Clover, Henry, Illinois, Robert's wife is listed as "Nancy".

Interestingly, Lucy and her mother Elizabeth, also known as Betsy, are listed again in the 1880 Census, but in Lincoln, Cass, Iowa, with Lucy's brother Franklin Pierce and his family. The two census' were taken 20 days
apart. In Illinois, Lucy's marital status is "M" for married -- but 20 days later out in Iowa, she is listed as "S", or "single". All of the personal data (i.e. age, birth place, parents' birth place) match in each instance. Lucy and her mother, Elizabeth Farnsworth Pierce eventually ended up living in Allen County, Kansas (which abuts Mitchell County..(.note by .ELJ...it does not abutt Mitchell Co......Mitchell is no. central and Allen is southeast but an Allen Township did exist in Jewell County ...just across line from Mitchell County,Kansas) with another issue of Elizabeth Farnsworth and Jared Pierce, Oliver F. Pierce. Plummer Pierce lived nearby for several years as well and also owned land. Plummer eventually moved to Franklin, Franklin, Nebraska, where he died and is buried.

Robert A. Seymour and Lucy A. Pierce apparently parted ways in 1880 - with Robert moving to Iowa to be near their daughter, Frances Augusta "Fanny" and Lucy moving near her mother Elizabeth (Betsy" and Lucy's brothers. A son on Lucy and Robert, Lincoln, is my g grandfather. His mother lis listed as Lucy A. Pierce on legal documents (death and marriage certificates, but Nancy Pierce is listed in less formal items, like his obituary.

I have found Samson and Elijah Farnsworth in the 1970 Census for Woodford, Illinois. It is the next to Marshall County, where Jared Pierce, Elizabeth Farnsworth's husband, is supposedly buried. I cannot help but think that
Elizabeth must have been out in Illinois with Samson and/or Elijah.

Now that I have purged a good portion of what I know, I would like to inquire as to whether anyone out there has been able to find legal documentation for the birth or christening of Elizabeth Farnsworth, as well as vital records for Abijah Farnsworth and his wife, Betsy Peck Farnsworth. I had no luck with Vermont State records thus far.

Any exchange of information would be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,
M. Goff

Hi Eleanor-
I have posted some information at the Farnsworth Family website that you may want to check out. It is located under the "queries" seciton. At this time I have info on the Samson Farnsworth line and the Elizabeth (Betsy) Farnsworth (daughter of Abijah Farnsworth and Betsy (Peck) Farnsworth. Betsy married a man by the name of Jared Pierce and they, in turn, had six children, one of whom, Lucy, was my gg grandmother. A generation later, the family comes back together again in Nance County, Nebraska when Chauncey Farnsworth, son of Samson Farnsworth, married Lucy E. Seymour, daughter of Lucy (Pierce) Seymour. I was able to initially locate both Betsy and daughter Lucy because my grandmother had made some notes before her death in 1970. Working with a historical society out in Kansas, I was able to find their graves in Mitchell County.

I would like to exchange information with you. Could you possibly e-mail me via regular e-mail (rather than bulletin board). I do have copies of some probate records, etc. It's very complicated since the family marries back into itself (yuck).
