grandfather. Other records show him in IA as early as 1838

KY) carpenter worth $400, wife (20 TN) ch. Lucy J. (2, IA) Susan E. (11/12, IA).
Served in Co. "A" 4th Iowa Regiment Iowa Vol. Inf. He took another man's place
in the draft in Civil War and was aparently paid to do so.
MARRIAGE:Davis Co Iowa married by Jefferson Easly Book A pg 260-61. Certificate
verifies date and bride Mary Adaline Ramsey-no other info
BURIED: Soldiers Cemetery sec. B range 3 grave 112. John and Mary joined the
Methodist Church in Appanoose Co. IA.
