Lived in Boston,MA - twin of Mehitabel Check death date - could be death date of Deborah Wing (09 Feb 1725/26isreally George's. The notation was non-specific to which died onthisdate. Born in Dorchester and returned to Boston and thence in 1714 toHarwich,Barnstable Co. He married Deborah Wing and was dismissed fromthe OldSouth Church, Boston Mr 27, 1720 and joined the church at Harwich"Northside" now Brewster then under the care of Rev. Nathaniel Stone.Heafterward removed to the south part of the town where many ofhisdescendants now live and where he carried on a farm. He wasnot"liberally educated but wasd well versed in the theoloical books oftheday and was very familiar with the scriptures. In 1730 was "ordained"byhuman hands, he commenced preaching to the Indians who werelocatedtoward the south shore and far removed from the meeting housewhich wason the north side of the parish of 23 square miles. Mr. Weeksbuilt ahouse of worship for the Indians at his wonexpense. The pastor, Mr. Stone objected when he learned that Mr. Weeks preachedattimes to some of his white neighbors who were glad toassembleoccasionally on a week-day or a stormy Sabbath for religiousinstructionand conference being far removed from their regular place ofDSabbathworship. Mr. Stone thought that the dignity and important of hisofficewas at stake and wrote a letter to Mr Weeks reminding him of thecase ofUzza and Uzziah who ventured on wht belonged only to the priests.Howgladly would men today welcome such aco-laborer. Some years late, Mr. Weeks took pity upon an unfortunate woman andtookshe and her child into his own house giving her shelter andemploymentand treating her kindly. Some took offense at this and wouldnot come tothe Lord's table with him. so he absented himself from thecommunion inorder not to keep othersaway. He appeared to have possessed more of the spirit of his Master thandidsome of those who foudn fault withhim. The fault found with him by the minister and others for doing whatheconsidered his Christian duty and privilege, in regard to bothmatterswas no doubt a principal cause of the clouding of his nind in thelatterpart of his life, which led to aimless wanderings about thecountry. Hedied from exposure to cold in the low ground south of HarwichAcademyknown from the circumstance as Weekes's Hollow to the present daybeingthen over 80 years old. May have been of Hugenot blood through his mother Abigail Trescottorgrandmother Elizabeth Aspinwall. A sermon preached by him in 1726 argues very earnestly against thegreatsins of wearing periwigs and of extravagance indress. Called the PREACHER of Harwich
