Thomas Bell chr. [LDS film 1040171] 2 Jan 1631 in St Andrews Parish, Fife, Scotland. Thomas' parents were James Bell and Helen Pringle. That date fits with his petition to the Court in 1732 stating he is over the age of 100 and asks to be freed from paying future levys. [PGCo. Court Record S, p.165]. If this is the correct Thomas Bell, it's possible he married Jenat Leslie in 1652 and Jenat Oliphant abt 1668. With Jenat Oliphant he had the following children:
a. Robert chr. 28 Apr 1670 [Is this the Robt who is termed brother by Alexander. Unfortunately there are no depositions giving us a clue as to Robt of MD's birth year]
b. Bessie chr. 16 Jun 1672
c. Jenat chr. 15 Mar 1674
The unproven theory is that when wife Oliphant died, the children were given to family members to raise while Thomas sailed off to Maryland arriving abt 1679, alone, where he claimed 50 acres for transporting himself into the province [Maryland Patent Record WC#2:16].

Undated; Thomas Beall of Prince George's Co. requests resurvey of Loving Acquaintance which he rec'd by assignment from Ninian Beall for 105 acres plus 207 acres contiguous vacant land (Land Office Patent BB#3.547-8)
Nov 1732 Court; Thomas Beall prefers to the Court here the following petition viz. To the Worshipfull the Justices of Prince George's County Court now Sitting The humble Pettn. of Thomas Beall sheweth That your peticoner is very infirm and above the age of one hundred years &. expected ye sd. Pett. hath been levy free for some years past ye sd. petitio[ner] therefore humbly prays that he may hereafter be discharged from paying any Levy and for this present year and ye sd. pet. shall ever pray & upon sending which petition and consideratin thereof had It is ordered by the Court here that the petitioner be Levy free for the future. (Prince George's Court Records S.165)
Loving Acquaintance was patented by Ninian Beall, the immigrant, in Calvert Co. on 28 Jul 1684 and 105 acres of Loving Acquaintance assigned to Moses Groome (HM). This date is quoted in some family histories as being the date of transfer from Ninian to Thomas.
On 1 May 1730 Thomas Beall, Sr., planter, assigned Loving Acquaintance of 312 acres to go to his son William Beall, Jr. after the death of Thomas and his wife Elizabeth (PGLR Q.57). 4 Oct 1732 Thomas gave the residue of his estate to William and on 19 Dec 1736 his widow, Elizabeth Beall, assigned William 1/3 of her unnamed plantation with the provision that he would permit her to dwell there for 21 years (PGLR T.439).
Four of Thomas' children are identified in in Prince George's Co. land records when he made deeds of gift to them on 24 Jul 1719: Elizabeth, William, Benjamin and Uphen. The 1730 will of Benjamin identifies bros. Thomas, William, Ninian and sister Elizabeth.
