John Thompson wrote a will in Frederick County. Maryland, dated 25 September 1748, and proved 19 March 1751. In it he left to his son William Thompson the tract of land known as "Thompson's Pasture" as well as 61 acres at the lower end of "Thompson's Hop-yard", 148 acres at the head of a tract named "John & Yacomintye" on the Potomac. To his son. John Thompson, he left 135 acres called "The Conjuror Outdone" as well as 148 acres out of "John & Yacomintye" and 75 acres on the lower end of Derby Island To his son, Cornelius Thompson, he left a tract called "Cool Springs" as well as 49 acres of "Thompson's Hop-yard" with a small island of 12 acres against it, and 148 acres of "John & Yacomintye. To his daughter, Ann Thompson, he left a 105-acre tract of land on the Potomac called the "Duck Folly" and an island in the Potomac of 20 acres. Source: Scharf, J. Thomas.
