Obituary, The Shelby News, p. 1, Thursday, November 15, 1934:"Funeral services for Mrs. Eva VanMeter Thomas, who died Tuesday in Ripley, Tenn., will be held at 2 o'clock this afternoon from the residence of her step daughter, Mrs. Ralph Guthrie, of Magnolia Ave. Rev.  Agnus Gordon will officiate and burial will be made in Grove Hill.

"The deceased was formerly Mrs. John S. Hanna and was well known here. She also is survived by a brother, Ben S. VanMeter, two sisters, Mrs. Alexander Bruce, Shelbyville, and Mrs. Joe Davis of Florida, and a daughter, Mrs. LeGrand Harvey, Brownsville, Tenn."
