Obituary, April 8, 1925: " Mansfield, April 7-Edwin Scott Cunningham, pioneer resident of this place, died at 4 o'clock Sunday afternoon from illness of several years duration. Funeral services were held at the Nazarene church at 3 o'clock Tuesday afternoon and burial was in the Mansfield cemetery. Services were conducted by Rev. E. E. Robinson of Decat, former local pastor, assisted by Rev. Joseph Peters, local pastor, and Rev. Martha Howe formerly pastor here.
"Mr. Cunningham is survived by the widow here, and Arthur Cunningham, a brother, and Mrs. Kate Taylor, a sister at Moorefield, W. Va.
"The deceased was born in Moorefield, W. Va., Sept. 12, 1847, and came here when a young man. He was married to Sallie VanMeter, Jan. 9, 1877 and they went to Moorefield where they resided five years. They then returned to the homestead near this place where they resided until 22 years ago when they moved to the city. He was a charter member of the Nazarene church and trustee of the college of Olivet."

Obituary, July 16, 1942: " Funeral services for Mrs. Sally Cunningham, 89, were held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Mansfield Nazarene church with Reverend C. E. Fritsch officiating. Burial was in the Mansfield cemetery.
"Mrs. Cunningham died at her home in Mansfield early Saturday morning after a lingering illness.
"She was born August 2, 1853, in Moorefield, W. Va., the daughter of Garrett and Elizabeth VanMeter. She was married to Edwin S. Cunningham at Mansfield January 9, 1877 and made her home here continuously since that time.
"Two nephews are the only survivors."
