John Hardin (1753-92) served as lieutenant in Gen. Daniel Morgan's Rifle Corps at the siege of Boston and received the thanks of Gates for his service at Saratoga. While on a mission of peace he was massacred by the Indians. He was born in Fauquier County, Va.
