JOOST ADRIANSEN VER MEULEN, (OF THE MILL) OR MOLENAER, OF PYNSCKER WAS BORN IN PYNACKER, A VI LLAGE THREE MILES EAST OF DELFT IN HOLLAND HE CAME TOI THIS COUNTRY IN THE SHIP "DE TROUW" WH ICH SAILED FROM AMSTERDAM, DEC 23, 1663 CAPT JAN JANSE BESTEVAER (HSYB 1902:17) AFTER IMMIGRA TING HE LIVED IN ESOPUS, WHERE HIS MARRIAGE WAS RECORDED ON JUNE 7 1663, THE INDIANS ROSE AN D CARRIED FEMMETJE HENDRICKS OF AS CAPTIVE, SHE WAS RANSOMED SOON AFTER. THIS WAS BUT A FEW M ONTHS BEFORE THERE FIRST CHILD HE SERVED A A DECON 1672-1678 AND WAS SCHEPEN.
HE REMOVED TO A 50 ACRE FARM IN BUSHWICK, LONG ISLAND WHERE HE MARRIED HIS 3RD WIFE

f-his last name is not molenar which is 'miller' in Dutch. It is Adriaenszn.He and his father were millers.

Jooste arrived in Ulster County in 1658, where he erected a grist mill. He went back and forth to Holland several times. He was married twice before, to Femmetje Hendricksen, who removed back to the old country after being abducted by Indians. After the death of Elizabeth Crom, he removed to Bushwick, on Long Island where he married Maritje Hays., in 1682. He died on Long Island in 1683. At least one of his children removed to Somerset County New Jersey, with Jooste Jans Van Meteren, this was his youngest son Hendrickse. Willem died in Newton New York, in 1753. Jooste lived in Kingston New York, and on Long Island. These are the only two places I have found him.
