Served in Revolutionary War as soldier in Capt Henry Terrill's Company of Colonel Josiah Parker's 5th Virginia Regiment of the Continental Army. Spent the winter of 1778-79 at Valley Forge. was in Washington's march in pursuit of British from Valley Forge through New Jersey to New York City, just after evacuation of Philadelphia by the British.
