Obituary, Mcarthur Democrat-Enquirer, p. 1, Wednesday, September 3, 1913: "Vinton County friends of George Minister, former well known resident of Zaleski, were shocked Friday morning to learn of his death, which occurred at his home in Columbus, following an illness of but a few days.

"Mr. Minister has been employed by J. H. Freiner as a superintendent at his lumber camp in West Virginia, at one time having been interested financially with Mr. Freiner in business.

"A few days ago Mr. Minister, who has been bothered more or less with heart trouble, suffered an attack while at his work. He was alone at the time and twice lapsed into unconsciousness. When roused from the second unconscious spell help had arrived and he was given temporary relief and later was sent to his home in Columbus. It was not thought at first that his condition was serious and his recovery was believed to be but a matter of a few days. Thursday he grew worse, his death resulting that evening.

"The funeral occurred Sunday afternoon from the residence in Columbus and was attended by a large concourse of friends. Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Freiner and Mr. and Mrs. L. W. Thorp attended the funeral.

"Mr. Minister was about 55 years of age. He spent nearly all his life in Zaleski and was one of the best known and most popular men in the community. He is survived by a widow and four children, two sons and two daughters."

Obituary, The Columbus Dispatch: " Fuineral services for George Minister, aged 55, who died Thursday night from heart failure, after an illness of two weeks, will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the residence, 1321 Forsythe Avenue. Private burial will be made Monday afternoon at Green Lawn Cemetery.

"Mr. Minister is survived by his wife, four children, Marie, Florence, Harry, and George; five brothers and a sister. He was a member of Columbus Lodge No. 30, F. & A. M., and of Columbus Council No. 1, U.C.T.

"Rye T. H. Campbell of the King Avenue M. E. Church will officiate. The Fisher Undertaking company has charge of the funeral arrangements."
