Obituary, Lexington Herald, §1, p. 8, Saturday, December 13, 1930:     "Mrs. Mae VanMeter Packer, 64 years old, of Winchester, died at the home of A. H. Hampton, of Boonesboro road, last night at 10 o'clock. She is survived by her husband, W. R. Packer, and several brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock."

Obituary, The Winchester Sun, p. 1, Saturday, December 13, 1930:"Mrs. Mae B. VanMeter Packer, wife of Winfred R. Packer, of Las Vegas, NV, died at the home of her cousins A. B. Hampton, Jr., and the Misses Hampton on the Boonesboro Road, on Friday evening, December 12, at 10 o'clock.

"Mrs. Packer was born in Clark County on December 5, 1866, and was the oldest daughter of Lewis Marshall VanMeter and Anna Evelyn Moore VanMeter, and is survived by her husband and three brothers and three sisters, T. M. VanMeter, of Weldon, CO, Dr. L. Marshall VanMeter of Denver, CO, Ben S. VanMeter of Shelbyville, KY, Mrs. Stratton Thomas of Brownsville, TN, Mrs. J. K. Davis of Dade City, FL, and Mrs. Alexander Bruce, of Shelbyville, KY.

"Funeral services will be held at the home of A. H. Hampton, Jr., at 2:30 o'clock on Sunday afternoon by Dr. S. B. Lander. Burial in the Winchester cemetery.

"Pallbearers will be N. P. VanMeter, Jesse Yates, Marshall VanMeter, John M. Wheeler, Ben S. VanMeter, Jr., V. W. Bush, Field VanMeter, and Hamilton Marshall."
