Hi All Am seeking any information on this John, his decendants, and especially his ancestors. He was married to Margaret Strader, and had sons Jacob (1760-1837), Peter (1759-1838) and Ebenezer (1750-1836) note, this Ebenezer lived and died in NJ. I wonder if the VA/NC Ebenezer might be a brother to John? Peter's family relocated to PA, and Jacob and several of his family relocated to MI (my line). I have lots of information on the Jacob and Peter lines, and some on Ebenezer. Interesting note, at various times during the Revolution, all 3 sons served at different times under their father, who was a captain in the NJ militia. States he is brother of Peter in Affidavit to Rev War Pension Office. Moved to Michigan somewhere between 1833 and 1836.
I don't know if we're related to Aaron or Capt. John. My earliest listing is Joseph Petty, Sr. B. 24 April, 1765. He married Elizabeth Middaagh (or Vanatta). They had several children: Jacob, John, Aaron, Joseph, Jr., Moses, Margaret, and Elizabeth. Joseph Sr. & Elizabeth moved to OH in 1808 from NJ (Sussex/Warren CO). I have a message from a person Named John Wylie. He suggests that since Warren Co was formed from Sussex Co after 1808 that I look for info in Sussex Co. You might try the same thing.Let me know if you have any of my names. I'm kind of stuck with Joseph Sr. http://boards.ancestry.myfamily.com/surnames.petty/428.502.522.1.2.1/mb.ashx
