Joanne Eustice, Two Brothers from New Jersey (1997), p. 37: Appointed in 1762 to solicit subscriptions to open navigation on the Potomac from Wills Creek to Great Falls (Cumberland, MD to Washington),  Burgess from Hampshire County, Virginia, 1769, 1771, 1772, 1774.  Monument stands in Williamsburg, VA.;  member of 1776 Virginia convention of 15 May 1776 which instructed Virginia delegates to Congress to declare United Colonies free and independent from Great Britain; surety with James Wood for £140,000 to raise a battalion for Maj. Charles Semmes, Nov. 1776; captain and paymaster in the 8th Virginia; taken prisoner May 12, 1780 at Charleston, SC.  After War moved to Louisville, Kentucky where he was a "gentleman trustee", and rode with Lafayette on his visit to Louisville.  Son Abraham is mentioned in Virginia records as executor of Abraham deceased September 20, 1796.
