Oct. 31, 1752: Williamstown,MA; Ezekiel Hinds of Stockbridge, sells house lot no. 1 at Fort Massachusetts(West Hoosac), later Williamstown, to Samuel Smedley of Litchfield, CT for 27pounds. His son Nehemiah Smedley visits site and land is deeded to Nehemiah 1758. Nehemiah lives at site, later 5 brothers and 4 sisters join him at WestHoosac (renamed Williamstown 1765).

Served until March, 1777 and was discharged. Again enlisted in Captain Isaac Warren's Co. Col. Seth J. Bailey'sregiment of 2nd MA Line of 4th Brigade. (Capt. Served until Dec. 20,1780 when he was taken ill. Was never able to reenlist and was a cripple allhis life. Widow recieved pension. Benjamin Simonods's (Berkshire Co.) regiment; entered service 7 Sept 1777, dischared 30 Sept 1777, service 24 days. Company marched to Pawlet by order of Maj. Gen. Lincoln to serve for 20 days from time of joining at headquarters and was discharged at Pawlet, 60 miles from home, role certified at Williamstown. Also, Private, Capt. Israel Harris' Co., Col.
